Famous for her sultry, smokey sound, she also possessed and elegant swing, masterful phrasing and interpretation and a blend of joy and sorrow that comes straight from the heart.
From her Big Band recordings with Teddy Wilson for Decca Records to her intimate small group performances, Billie Holiday created a sound all her own which touches the hearts of listeners everywhere.
