8:30pm doors at 8:00pmYou don’t get to open for Diana
Krall unless you’re really good,
and Vancouver boss bassist Brandi
Disterheft was up to the challenge
of impressing a hometown
audience at the 2005 Vancouver
jazz festival. Still just in her early
20s, Disterheft is a rising star:
she’s studied with Neils-Henning
Orsted Pederson and Rufus Reid,
and wowed crowds at festivals in
Vienna, Chicago and Montreal. Her
debut album is just out (produced
by Michael Kaeshammer) but
please catch her live. Her trio
includes Chris Gale tenor sax and
Sly Juhas drums
“She is what we call serious.” –
